Plants That Contain DMT And MAOI's — For Ayahuasca And Its Analogues
So you want to try ayahuasca? Please do so in a responsible manner! To help you in your journey, here is a list of plants that contain DMT, and below that is another list for plants containing MAOI's — in relatively high potency. Many, many plants contain DMT and/or a MAOI in much smaller quantities, but these not as effective for entheogenic use.
DMT Containing Plants:
- Psychotria Viridis (aka Chacruna) — This is the original plant used for ayahuasca — Found in South America
- Mimosa Hostilis — Found in South America, Central America and in the Mexico region
- Acacia Acuminata — Found in Australia
- Acacia Bburkittii — Found in Australia
- Acacia Colei — Found in Australia
- Acacia Confusa — Found in South East Asia
- Acacia Drepanolobium — Found in East Africa
- Acacia Simplex — Found in Argentina and some Pacific Islands
MAOI Containing Plants:

- Banisteriopsis Caapi (aka Caapi) — This is the original plant used for ayahuasca
- Syrian Rue
- Passion Fruit Flower
